Noise Assessment
“Reducing the risk of noise related hearing damage”
It is estimated around 17,000 people in the UK suffer deafness or other hearing related issues due to excessive noise at work. Hearing loss is very disabling and can get worse over time. However, it is preventable!
The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 (Noise Regulations 2005) require employers to prevent or reduce risks to health from exposure to noise at work. The employer must arrange for a competent person to undertake an adequate noise assessment, if any employee’s exposure is liable to reach any of the Action Values or Exposure Limit Values, as defined in the Regulations. The assessment must be adequate in identifying which employees are exposed and provide enough information about the noise for the employer to decide what action is needed.
Cottam Parkinson Consulting will assess workplace noise in accordance with the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005. Comprehensive reports are written detailing employee exposure, results are discussed and the client is advised on noise reduction measures. We can also advise on the suitability of existing hearing protection and/or recommend alternatives based on your requirements.
